OUR MISSION

Our products enable expression and more creativity for everyone. For years our founders have worked closely with educational organizations worldwide.

Education
is the key

Our partner

Since 2018 we have been collaborating with Turning Tables (TT) (www.turningtables.org). TT is a global non-governmental organization working to empower marginalized youth in different global contexts by providing them the means to process and express their challenges, hopes and dreams for a better tomorrow, through the Creative Arts of music and film.

Their programmes build creative environments through inspiration, learning and transfer of technology that enables artistic self-expression in spaces where this would otherwise have been thought impossible.

Since 2009, TT has been established independently operational country offices working with youth in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Lebanon, Jordan, Myanmar and Kenya.

It is generally seen as difficult for people with disabilities, or the ones being raised in an unpriviliged environment, to get educated in music and creative arts.

Sxratch is committed to come up with product and ideas that can help especially these audiences.

Our solution

Here are some ideas (of which some are already in prototype stage) that convey this:

  • easy to use classroom tools to perform and experience sound modulation based on scratch-DJ gestures
  • ability to create interesting link between colors, visuals (shaders) and scratch performance gestures in the realm of music theory
  • making it easier for inexperienced people in terms of playing techniques or musical theory to be creative:
    • quantization of patterns
    • mapping to predefined scales
    • plugins that allow users to create professional sounding patterns that would not be possible for them in a ‘live’ setting
  • education tool for schools/universities to teach automation processing of music and Theory of Motion, which is a theoretical framework for novel sound generation using fader and touch based user interface.
  • low barrier entry for youngsters to ‘create‘ sounds & samples and affect them with their touch and drawing gestures and figures
  • tools for people with disabilities to get familiar with modulating & creating sounds with a friendly touch based interface

"One of our first apps, the Scratch Visualizer, has been of interest in particular for DJ schools and academies"

The Scratch Visualizer app visualizes x-fader and record movement in real-time. The partly highly complicated movement sequences and playing techniques become visible and are easier to comprehend and learn due to the visual understanding. In a teacher-student setting being able to analyze the presented data, spot ‘mistakes’ in terms of vinyl position, x-fader movement and timing, or a combination of all of these, represents a quantum leap in ‘teaching turntablism’.
